Lucky
Us!
Here is Dan Galloway showing his first “home”. It was mid August, 1966, and it had been
a tough job with only one hammer, a hand-saw, discarded lumber, and a
bucket of rusty nails. But, he finished on schedule and under budget.
The sale, however, fell through. Grandma couldn’t be convinced
to move in; said the door was too narrow.
And, yes, you are seeing double. Dan and Dave are twins,
and feeling lucky to yet be working the only trade they ever had.
Grandpa Galloway...
This
is Grandpa Galloway back in the late 1970’s
teaching Dan carpentry, and the things that should never change
in the construction business: positive attitude, honesty, pride in workmanship,
good materials, no short cuts, plumb – square – and level,
measure twice and cut once...make the effort to do it right the first
time.
Passing
It On...
Some two hundred-plus homes later, and well into the next generation of Galloway builders, Dan now in 2008 is still building the quality homes Grandpa Galloway insisted on. Today, however, they have a new partner...Brenden, Dan's son. Together, they continue with a mid-size company that is exceptionally well-equipped, associated with excellent sub-trades, and endowed with the Galloway tradition of quality work at a fair price.
